Collaborating Expert

Arleen Wilcox

Arleen is an independent communications and engagement specialist with a background in local government, advocacy and marketing. She collaborates with the Lab on communications and outreach, bringing a creative approach to translating complex ideas into clear, punchy content.

The team values Arleen’s instinct for what will land with different audiences and her constant curiosity about new ways to communicate the Lab’s work.

Secretly, Arleen always thought she’d be an investigative journalist or a travel show host. As it turns out, working with a development think tank holds as many opportunities to learn about the world.

When she’s not working on projects with the Lab, you’ll find Arleen running, sunbathing or enjoying the latest foreign film festival.

In a previous life, Arleen worked at the ACT Government, the Embassy of Mexico in Australia, and marketing start-ups. She was also once Head of Training for Raise Our Voice Australia and has volunteered with a range of youth, migrant and women’s rights organisations.

She holds a double Bachelor's in International Studies and Media, and brings strong engagement instincts alongside big-picture thinking.
